About

Mindfulness and Meditation is fast becoming the healthy and manageable way to combat many of the stresses and strains of everyday life. Many people today complain of being stressed out by work and difficult relationships. They are over-anxious, lacking in vibrancy and often overwhelmed by the challenges of life.

The ancient discipline of Meditation and Mindfulness practice has shown to have a remarkable effect in reducing stress; opening us up to joy and wisdom and improving our relationship with ourselves and others. Health practitioners are turning to Meditation and Mindfulness practice instead of the usual dependency on drugs to reduce stress and anxiety.

A daily practice, building up to 20 minutes of meditation a day, for 8 weeks will make a significant difference. And the great thing is, with a little guidance and support, anyone can do it. I offer a range of different meditation experiences in and around the Cheltenham area, from weekly classes, monthly sessions, day and weekend retreats or simple one-to-one. There is bound to be something to suit you.

Current Classes You can attend regular classes in Cheltenham, courses, one-off workshops and one-to-one sessions if you prefer. I also offer classes via Zoom. Something to suit all tastes and needs.

Retreats Throughout the year there are a variety of different silent meditation retreats for you to enjoy, from just a couple of hours to a weekend. They are all held in stunning surroundings.

Corporate work Mindfulness meditation is being used more and more in the corporate world to support staff and managers in an increasingly stressful business world.

Experience

I have practised meditation and mindfulness for the last 20 years after going through some difficult challenges in my life. I started my working life as a primary school teacher for nearly 25 years - the last 6 years as a Special Educational Needs teacher in a large primary school in Cheltenham, where I was also part of the Senior Management Team. My busy work life meant I needed to find stillness and peace. Meditation seemed to help so much, giving me a detached and healthier perspective on life.

I also threw myself into a silent meditation retreat at Gaia House in North Devon some years ago. Although the first few days were very challenging, I gained so much insight and awareness. I now regularly attend silent meditation retreats as a way to refresh and renew my commitment to meditation.

I also have a particular interest in caring for the carers, recognising that looking after others can be an emotional roller coaster and very draining. I use various meditation techniques to help people develop a healthy sense of detachment and understand the importance of caring for themselves.

For the past eight years, I have been working part-time with the Isbourne College, in Cheltenham, as their manager, helping to put together accredited courses for people interested in the holistic landscape and further training for holistic practitioners. I'm also very lucky to teach about meditation and the ego on their successful "Introduction to Holistic Living Course".

My teaching style is relaxed and inclusive with a fair smattering of good humour thrown in! All those years in front of a class of expectant youngsters has honed my teaching skills...I have meditated for years and also had times when I've struggled so any problems you have with meditation I can help you with because I've more than likely experienced it myself. At the end of the day life is meant to be lived and to be fun - and that's the joy of meditation because it puts you in touch with your own unique life force. Believe me, it's there, quietly simmering away in the background. It's just that some days we can't hear its call because of the noise of the incessant mind chatter. Let me show you how to access the silence and stillness that lies at the very heart of everyone...

Please contact me if you would like to join a class, have a one-on-one or just chat about meditation in general. I'd love to hear from you.

    Testimonials

"Kathryn explained mindfulness easily and with wonderful demonstrations to my group, we all felt very comfortable during the session and the group found it a very useful tool, thank you Kathryn for your compassion" Michaela

"Kathryn has been a kind and gentle guide during my discovery of meditation. You can do a lot of work by yourself, using books and CDs, but it is so helpful to have someone to refer to, who can answer questions and give guidance. Best of all, she knows that ‘stuff happens’ and is always supportive and understanding." Kate
