Welcome to The Joyful Movement Movement has the power to make us feel fantastic, to energise and awaken the mind, build strength and mobility through the body and to bring us joy! Here at The Joyful Movement, we help women to get back into exercise and on their way to feeling more confident, stronger and positive about themselves through Pilates and Dance Fitness classes.

Our classes are fun, supportive and interactive and through the wonderful Joyful Movement community, our online videos and local classes in Burridge, Bishops Waltham and Fair Oak, we would love to welcome you to join us and transform your relationship with exercise and enjoy living more actively. Who is The Joyful Movement for? The Joyful Movement is for women who:

-Want to get back into exercise and want to live more actively but don’t know where to start.

-Are feeling unmotivated, stuck in a rut and in need of a little push in the right direction.

-Are ready to make a change and are ready to feel more positive, stronger and confident in themselves.

-have fallen out of love with exercise but are ready to transform their relationship with it and enjoy all of its benefits.

-Just want exercise to be fun and enjoyable and be part of a positive and uplifting community.

Here at The Joyful Movement we offer classes in Pilates, Dance Fitness and Barre Fitness. We also provide online classes, workshops and 1:1 and 2:1 Pilates sessions.

At The Joyful Movement we are really pleased to have three memberships for you to choose from:

The Joyful Movement Online: A membership that is solely online and designed to empower you take charge of your workout routine and have access to classes at time to suit you. With a range of live online Pilates classes, Barre Fitness classes and a workout library full of short and effective Pilates sessions, you’ll be spoilt for choice and can jump straight into feeling fit, strong, healthy and happy at home.

Monthly Pilates Courses Join our classes and enjoy Pilates in a sociable, relaxed and light hearted environment. Pilates works the entire body and while the classes are mixed ability and suitable for you to work at your own pace, taking part in a face to face Pilates classes gives you that extra little bit of a push and guidance to make sure you’re feeling it in the right places.

Enjoy It All Combo Membership This is a membership that combines the best of both worlds. You have access to all of the online classes as well as a weekly group Pilates class. Take what you learn in your weekly class and apply it in your home practice to ensure that you are getting the most out of your sessions and feel fantastic for it.

Pilates: Mixed Ability Pilates class - Thursday 10.30am Burridge Village Hall

Mixed Ability Pilates class - Thursday 7.15pm Burridge Village Hall

Pilates is a low impact class that works on restoring balance of the body through a series of slow and controlled exercises, which promote strength, mobility and body awareness. Pilates focuses on improving your core strength, posture, balance and coordination and provides long term feel good factor!

Our mixed ability classes allows you to work at your own pace, while also being give a little nudge by us to ensure that you are getting the most out of each exercise.

Our Pilates classes take place at Burridge Village Hall and we have both a morning and an evening class for you to choose from.

We like to keep our classes on the smaller side so that you are getting the most out of your class and able to receive individual feedback to help you feel great in your body and mind.

Our classes run on a Thursday morning at 10.30am and Thursday evening at 7.15pm.

The classes run on a pay monthly basis of £32 a month and if you miss a class you can either make up your class (subject to availability) or request a Pilates class video to enjoy at home.

We very much believe that exercising is fun and being part of an interactive, light hearted class can make it all the more enjoyable. Our classes are friendly and small and we would love for you to join us.

Hi, I’m Sofie and I am the founder of The Joyful Movement.

The Joyful Movement was created in 2019 with the view to help women become stronger in their body and feel calm in their mind through Pilates and Dance classes. Through The Joyful Movement classes, we offer a safe space for women to come and create little pockets of joy in their week. And make a positive change to their wellbeing and lifestyle through Pilates and Dance.

Exercise can make a huge impact on our physical and mental wellbeing.We are all important, we are all worth it and we all deserve to feel good about ourselves and movement has the power to help us to achieve it.

I have always loved to move and from a young age it has provided me with a great sense of joy and I am passionate about being able to share the benefits (and joys!) of movement with other women. I’d love to show you that exercising doesn’t have to feel like a chore, it can be fun, enjoyable and accessible to everyone and something that you can easily make a part of your day to day life.

The Joyful Movement provides a wonderful, positive community that you can be a part of, feel supported by and be motivated to go forward with and lead a more active and joy-filled lifestyle.

So a little more about me.. I love getting to know the people that come to join us at The Joyful Movement and so I thought I’d share some fun facts about me to help you get to know me a little better…

I have a BA (hons) Degree in Dance and Choroegraphy and qualified as a Level 3 Pilates instructor in 2012. Since leaving my office job and qualifying as a Pilates instructor and continuing to develop my knowledge, I have never looked back and feel like I have the best job in the world.

I am very lucky because I get to dance most days through my teaching but my favourite place to dance and let loose is in my kitchen! Give me a great feel good song, a dance partner (if my other half is willing) and my kitchen and I am happy! Teaching was never something I thought I would do. The idea of standing up in front of a room of people used to terrify me and it was my idea of a nightmare. Now I can’t imagine doing anything else, it just goes to show you never know what life has in store for you.

My favourite place in the whole entire world is Cornwall. It is somewhere that holds a very special place in my heart and I’d love to have a cottage over looking a Cornish beach where I can take long sandy walks and run about on the beach all day.

I don’t drink tea or coffee…. I know, I know, I just never have. I am however a MASSIVE fan of hot chocolate and if it’s got cream and marshmallows with a slice of cake on the side even better!

I am a level 3 Advanced Pilates Instructor and qualified in Pre and Postnatal Pilates. I obtained my certification to teach Barre through the BarreConcept method. I am also qualified to teach Small Equipment classes, Progressing Ballet Technique and adore sharing my love and knowledge for movement with others, to help them find joy and feel the best version of themselves.

    Fees

    In-Person Pilates Classes:

    Combines access to all online classes with a weekly group Pilates class. These options provide flexibility to suit different preferences and schedules.
