About

When I come here, I’m like the fish in the water, and I go everywhere, see a lot of colours, different shapes, it's beautiful -Thank you Michel for your testimonial of Saturday Night Sweat!

We dance every 1st Saturday of the month at Micheal Hall Steiner School, Forest Row, East Sussex.

Over 100 dancers join us each month to be guided into the 5Rhythms dance by the incredible Sarah Davies. Saturday Night Sweat is a guided 5Rhythms Wave: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. It follows an arc of energy, supported by a range of fabulous music. The intention is to let your own dance unfold, following your impulse of what feels good while held in the structure of the class. It is connecting and builds community bonds, “people who dance together stay together” – not sure who said that but it’s very true. At the end people often feel transformed.

No previous movement experience necessary - beginners and experienced movers welcome alike - all welcome.

Join an inclusive community who welcome newcomers with open arms.

Feel liberated in a space that encourages exploration, self expression and healing through movement.

Dance freely in a stunning setting with changing rooms, underfloor heating and ample parking.

We aim to host an inclusive and diverse event. We welcome hearing from participants who have access or other needs. We offer discounts and bursary places to marginalised people and people from underrepresented or racialised communities

Lifts and ride shares are available Venue is wheelchair-accessible

Experience

Open Floor Open Floor supports resilience, compassion, and joyous connection with others. We teach dance and mindful movement for personal healing, professional growth, and community building. As a non-profit we use Dynamic Governance system of organisation, also called Sociocracy. I’m on the EU training faculty, training others to become Open Floor teachers.

5 Rhythms In 2008 I trained with Gabrielle Roth to teach 5Rhythms, and have been teaching since. 5Rhythms roots are shamanistic, ecstatic, and Gestalt therapy, drawing on a wide range of eastern philosophy. The five rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness. When danced in sequence this forms a ‘Wave’, the basis of this modality.

Qualifications

ICMTA I’m a member of the International Conscious Movement Teachers Association. Created in 2013, it’s an independent not-for-profit professional association supporting and representing teachers of dance meditation and conscious movement. Its members are dedicated to serving people in being more fully alive, creative, original and authentic in their self-expression, primarily through using the medium of the body-in-motion.

While the founding members of the ICMTA are teachers of the 5Rhythms®, trained and certified by Gabrielle Roth, the ICMTA anticipates that its membership will eventually expand to embrace and welcome teachers of other conscious dance and movement modalities.
