Experience

Timmo Owner of Portside Personal Training Timmo has nearly 10 years of experience in the fitness industry, and has completed over 10000 hours of personal training sessions throughout his career. After working hard managing a personal training team within a commercial gym, he decided to take the leap and open Portside PT with help from Phoebe. Timmo’s fitness background started in school, where he played rugby and cricket throughout his school life. During university, he left his rugby days behind and started surfing and training hard in the gym. After this, he became a personal trainer to share his love and passion for fitness and resistance training with the wider community.

Timmo specializes in body transformations and strength building. He trains clients often using a combination of resistance exercises and circuit training, in order to help each client reach their goals in a fun and effective way. He believes that consistency and enjoyment are key to successful integration of health and fitness into day to day life. His favorite exercise is currently an overhead press, and his least favorite is the deadlift! Timmo currently has a few limited spots available in his diary, so get in touch quick if you’d like to snap one up!

Phoebe PhD! Phoebe’s research interests lie mainly within the area of body image and exercise, but she also loves learning about how exercise can be made as enjoyable as possible for each individual!

Phoebe became a personal trainer to help people adapt their attitudes surrounding exercise to positive ones. Her studies have taught her a wealth of information about how to facilitate behaviour change and support clients body image and self-perception. She aims to help people achieve their goals in a sustainable, collaborative, and most importantly enjoyable way, with a focus on mindset, functional resistance training and gradual nutritional changes. She also loves to have a bit of a dance around the studio from time to time!

Phoebe specialises in confidence building, women’s health and is also qualified in pre- and post-natal fitness. Phoebe is currently at full capacity, so doesn’t currently have any spots available for new clients, but do check out our other trainers who have spaces available!

Dylan when I started my own journey and I specialise in Functional Fitness. I like to coach utilising a combination of strength based exercise mixed with cardiovascular endurance and explosive power. An aim to overall become confident, stronger, fitter and more mobile which will help not just in the gym but in day to day life too.

I became a personal trainer because I get fulfilment out of helping others and I can relate to people and how they feel when they first start out on their health and fitness journey. To positively impact peoples lives on a daily basis knowing they are growing as a person in and out of the gym brings me genuine happiness.

Also, there is nothing quite like watching someone learn and develop their skills and implement external habits to essentially become and train like an athlete.

Fitness is a way of life that can be and should be enjoyed by all. Regardless of age, gender and ability. For me when it comes to my own training, a few years ago I would have told you that upper body would be my favourite area to train! However, it is now lower body and my favourite exercise has to be a close call between a Barbell Back Squat and a Sumo Deadlift.

If I had to choose 1 exercise that I hate, it would have to be the Barbell Hip Thrust… I hope this gives you a little insight into myself and I look forward to coaching you on the gym floor!

Brooke From late teens, fitness and keeping healthy has always been a major passion of mine. Working in a gym for over 5 years led me to realise how much I enjoyed seeing others succeed.

With over 4 years experience as a personal trainer, my focus has always been to help you achieve your goals in a sustainable way as well as making sure you enjoy the process.

I work with a range of different clients, from weight loss journeys, muscle/strength building, improving mentality towards exercise and building confidence.

Louis Louis joined the Portside family after having moved to Hove from Cambridge.

His previous role saw him working as a neuro-rehab coach in a specialist clinic focusing on back pain and neurological rehab.

He brings his expertise to the team with a fun and friendly attitude all while conveying his knowledge with humility and gratitude for being able to do what he does!

He loves all kinds of sport and new acitvities are a new challenge for him but his favourites are rugby, surfing, skating, running and bouldering. If you tell him you have other hobbies you think he should try.. he probably will.

    Testimonials

I've looked for trainers in Brighton & Hove before but never found the right place for me. When I moved further away from Brighton and into Hove I came across Portside PT- it's a cracking place to train and the personal trainers are top-notch. With my PT Dylan’s help, I’ve made faster progress than I ever have before. The studio also has a lovely atmosphere with views across the water making it a nice place to workout as well!

Since living in Brighton, well Hove actually, I've tried a number of personal training studios, in gyms and outside. Portside is definitely the best place to work out if you're worried about busy gyms and not getting on the equipment. I also love working 121 with my trainer, Phoebe, which means I'm not worried about what other people are doing or if they're looking at me! I can train safely and with good results too! They have free parking too, which in Hove is an absolute dream!

I’ve trained with Timmo for a couple of years now and can't recommend the team of personal trainers enough. As someone with degenerative disc disease, I know exercise is so important. Sometimes he literally gets me through the week and when I’m fit and well he helps me get stronger and fitter. He's always able to adjust to my needs and my flare ups have reduced in number and severity. Every session is also great fun! I love their studio, one of the best in Brighton & Hove and one of the only places that focusses just on Personal Training.
